Country Discoveries
A different type of travel magazine that presented stories from travelers and the places they have explored. I helped launch the magazine, creating layouts, logos, artwork, maps, and special effects throughout. Photo retouching was done in Photoshop. Illustrator was employed to create ripped paper effects, illustrate maps, and apply effects to headlines.

Aqua Magazine
Various covers from Aqua magazine issues of 2018. AQUA is the premiere magazine of the pool & spa industry. All covers were designed and laid out in InDesign using both professional and stock photography. Each issue featured a different color banner to work with the cover image. Photoshop was used to edit photos where necessary.

Aqua Magazine
AQUA is the premiere magazine of the pool & spa industry. The cover story for this issue focused on the emotional power of reflection in water. I played up the feel of reflection by mirroring the subtitles in some way. I used Illustrator to create the mirrored text, then stretched and faded it away from the original. The layout was generated in InDesign including the cutout on the right side of the image and the text wrap that was applied.

Wood Floor Business
WFB Magazine is the wood floor paraprofessional’s go to source for news and information about the industry. The September/October 2017 issue introduced a new section that reviews the latest tools and gadgets every pro needs.

Our Iowa
Our Iowa is a rural-based magazine meant for those who live in or long for Iowa. I was involved from the inception of the magazine published by Reiman Iowa, LLC. Scenic farms and small towns are the focus of the imagery, while the stories come from folks who live there. Professional photography was used throughout every issue. Working remotely, I created layouts in InDesign and transferred files to a printer in Iowa.

The Verdict
The Verdict is a quarterly publication from the Wisconsin Association for Justice. Early issues of the magazine were small and black and white due to budget constraints. I was able to give the publication a “makeover” without blowing the budget. The result was a full-color front and back cover on quality paper, a larger page size, and two-color inside spreads. Professional photos were rarely available. I made use of a number of free and low-cost stocks sites to find cover and editorial images to use throughout the publications. I also used Photoshop to edit and manipulate photography, Illustrator to make logos and illustrations, and InDesign to layout the entire magazine.

Madison Media Institute
I created this collateral piece as a way to recruit new students to the many media arts programs offered at Madison Media Institute. Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop were used to complete the project. Some stock and professional photos were used and manipulated.
